New member guide for Spark TMC

1.      Toastmaster comprises two ability training.

u  Competent communication

u  Competent leadership

2.      Competent Communication (CC)

u  It trains your communication skill.

  u  There are 10 speech projects in the CC manual, which help you develop your speaking skills one step at a time. Your first speech will start from The Ice Breaker (C1), which is to introduce yourself to TM members. Then, you will learn how to Organize Your Speech (C2) in your second project. Body language is also important for communication, which will be explained in the fifth project, Your Body Speaks (C5). You will also learn how to collect information to support your points in the seventh project, Research Topic (C7). Last, you will practice the skill of how to Inspire Your Audience (C10).

  u  For each project, you will have one Evaluator. This evaluator will give you feedback and help you improve your speaking skills for your next project.

The Evaluator System will make you become a more powerful speaker. When you have more speech experiences, you can also be an evaluator of other speakers.

3.      Competent Leadership (CL)

  u  It trains your leadership skill.

  u  Also 10 projects in the CL manual, which trains your leadership skill one step at a time. These leadership skills are Listening (project 1), because a leader need to listen for getting information, this is the first step to solve problems), Critical thinking (project 2), which trains the ability of problem analysis, etc.

  u  These leadership skills are known for everyone, but we need to put it into practice. Toastmaster is the place where provide you the best opportunity to practice these skills.

4.      Certificate

In Toastmaster, you can not only learn the skill of communication and leadership, but also get certificates for your ability recognition. When you finish all of the projects, you are eligible for the Competent Communicator award. But it is not the end of your toastmaster journey; you can keep practicing the following programs, and get the title of Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB), Advanced Communicator Sliver (ACS), and Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG).

1.      Toastmaster 主要訓練的能力分為兩部分

2.      CC系列:

u  訓練一個人的溝通技巧

u  分成十篇演講主題(Speech Projects)，每個project都有一個重點的溝通技巧

u  Ex: 你的第一篇演講將會由C1 Ice Breaker開始，向TM介紹自己

u  接下來你會學到如何讓你的演講更有條理(C2)，或是像C5 Your body speaks (可以讓你在講台上降低緊張，更有自信)，你也會學到C7 Research topic (如何蒐集資料並適當的用在演講上)最後是C10 Inspire your audience (用你的演講去影響別人、激勵聽眾)

u  C1~C10的技巧再CC這本書有很詳盡的說明

u  每次的演講都會有一位Evaluator，你的Evaluator會給你建議讓你在下次演講更加進步，Evaluator的制度會幫助你成為更有影響力的講者，而當你有了更多演講經驗後，也可以做其他演講者的Evaluator

3.      CL系列:

u  訓練一個人的領導技巧

u  訓練領導能力聽起來有點抽象，如何訓練是個大問題。但TM社團設計的厲害之處，就是它不僅提供明確的方法，還提供一個舞台讓你去練習這些方法

u  也是分成十篇主題(project)，每個project都有一個重點的領導技巧

u  這些領導技巧像是project 1 Listening (一位領導人需要靠聆聽來取得資訊及別人的想法， 此乃解決問題的第一步；或者是像project 2 Critical thinking (訓練你分析問題的能力)

u  這些領導技巧大家應該都有耳聞，但如果只有耳聞恐怕淪為紙上談兵。TM厲害的地方就在於這裡提供機會讓你練習這些方法：如project1 Listening，你可以藉由當Speech Evaluator、ah counter、Grammarian、Table topic speaker來練習聆聽的技巧。或是如project 2 Critical thinking，你可以藉由當Speech Evaluator、General evaluator來練習。或是如C4 Time management，可以藉由擔任Timer、TME Speaker、Table topic master來做時間管理練習

4.      證書

u  在TM你不只會學到溝通與領導的技巧，還能夠在完成這些系列時取得證書。如果你完成C1~C10的演講，你將可以得到Competent Communicator Award，但這可不是演講的終點，你可以繼續挑戰接下來的系列，並取得Advanced Communicator Bronze(ACB)、Advanced Communicator Sliver(ACS)、Advanced Communicator Gold(ACG)的頭銜。同理，完成CL project，你會取得Competent Leader Award，但這也不是終點，當你繼續完成接下來的系列，可以拿到Advanced Leader Bronze、Advanced Leader Silver的頭銜。

疑難雜症表

Q1: 我接了工作(ah counter、vote counter、timer、variety session master….)，可是我不清楚這些工作內容，應該要問誰呢?

A1: 每次接工作的時候，VPE都會跟你們確認個人資料，這一屆的VPE是Spark最活潑可愛的Nicole。每個工作都有他們的工作須知，可以直接向VPE尋求協助，他會寄電子檔給你。幹部的聯絡資訊在每一次的agenda都有，有問題歡迎大家聯絡我們唷!

Q2: 接了工作，誰來幫我紀錄曾經做過什麼項目呢?

A2: 各個工作紀錄(ah counter、vote counter、timer、grammarian…)，VPE會幫忙登記，但也要請大家記得帶CL manual，在會議開始前找任何一位spark的member幫你在手冊上記錄，他會為你這次接工作的表現做個評比，給予你一些建議與肯定。所以大家下次接工作時都要記得帶CL manual，來記錄自己完成的leadership項目唷!

Q3: 我想要演講! 要怎麼準備? 投影片要交給誰呢?

A3: 每一位講者都會從C1開始，每次演講都會有一個重點學習項目，你可以和你的mentor(指導員)一起討論，他會給你一些想法來幫助你完成你的演講稿。如果覺得一位mentor還不夠，那你可以找親愛的VPE或是任何一位幹部，更可以找spark裡面你覺得很厲害的人討論，相信大家都會很樂意分享經驗，歡迎大家找我們討論唷! 演講需要用到的投影片，請在會議開始的前一天寄給VPE，好讓我們在會議開始前就將你的檔案存入電腦中。

Q4: 每周寄發的Agenda通知信、每個月由總部寄發的TM雜誌，沒有收到怎麼辦?

A4: Agenda請找VPE確認你的Email，雜誌部分請找Treasure確認你的英文地址。

Q5: Second Round 是什麼? Outing是什麼? 春季和秋季大會是什麼?

A5: Second Round 是每次會議後，為了增加會員之間的交流，所辦的宵夜(點心)聚餐。通常都是在石牌商城旁邊的古早味水龜伯，有豆花、剉冰、或是鹹的甕中鍋，好吃價格也親民。Outing則是社團在假日舉辦的踏青活動，有時候也會聯合其他社團一起舉辦，可以認識很多新朋友。春季和秋季大會則是演講社每年的重頭戲，除了英語演講比賽外，還有國、台甚至是日語的演講比賽，另外還會邀請 Toastmaster International Champion 或是重量級人物來作經驗分享，千萬不要錯過這麼棒的活動唷!。

Q6: 每次的會議照片都會上傳到哪裡呢? Spark有網站或是其他學習資源嗎?
